How To Measure For Window Blinds

Measuring your blinds accurately is essential because it ensures that they will fit perfectly in the window, providing the maximum amount of light blocking and privacy.

With accurate measurements, you can order the correct size of blinds, reducing waste and ensuring you get the most value for your money. Moreover, precise measurements help to create a neater overall appearance in your room, as mismatched or ill-fitting blinds can look unsightly. If you don’t want to do it yourself, our made-to-measure blinds in Essex will save you time.

With so much at stake, it's clear that taking the time to measure your blinds correctly is of utmost importance. If you are planning to buy a set of window blinds soon, don’t forget to follow the steps below to get accurate measurements.

The Five Steps Accurately Measuring For Window Blinds

Step One

Measure the width of the window opening at both the top and bottom. Use a tape measure and record the measurements in inches.

Step Two

Measure the height of the window opening at both the left and right sides. Again, use a tape measure and record the measurements in inches.

Step Three

Calculate the width of the blinds by taking the measurement from Step one and add one inch for each side that will be covered by the brackets. For example, if the width of the window opening is 24 inches and you want the blinds to cover both sides, you would add two inches to get a total width of 26 inches.

Step Four

To calculate the height of the blinds, take the measurement from Step two and add one inch for each side that will be covered by the headrail. For example, if the height of the window opening is 36 inches and you want the blinds to cover both sides, you would add two inches to get a total height of 38 inches.

Step Five

Use these measurements to select blinds that are the appropriate size for your window. Be sure to include any necessary hardware when ordering your blinds so that you have everything you need for installation.

With careful measuring, you can be assured of finding blinds that fit your window perfectly and look great in your home!

Measuring Outside Mount Blinds

Before you begin, it's important to note that outside mount blinds should be hung at least 3 inches above the window frame and at least 2 inches wider than the window on each side.

Once you've decided on the placement of your blinds, follow these four steps to ensure a perfect fit:

Step One

Begin by measuring the distance from the top of the window to where you want the blinds to end. Add 3 inches to this measurement to account for the mounting hardware.

Step Two

Next, measure the width of the window. Add 4 inches to this measurement to account for the space required on each side of the window for proper installation.

Step Three

Once you have your final measurements, use a level to mark where you'll be drilling holes for the mounting hardware. Drill your holes and insert the screws or nails that will secure your blinds in place.

Step Four

Finally, hang your blinds and adjust them as necessary until they're level and evenly spaced.

Window blinds are a popular choice for homes and businesses alike. They offer a variety of benefits that make them an ideal window-covering solution.

Since window blinds block out light, they help to reduce energy costs by keeping a space cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. If you want accurate fitting blinds or shutters that look great on your windows, taking precise measurements holds the key to a perfect fit no matter what type of blind you’re planning to have fitted
